The Our Handful of Fragments Collective consists of over twenty talented young and emerging theatre practitioners who share the common goal of extending their work beyond the Brisbane metropolitan area. This arts collective consists of members with skills ranging from acting to puppetry, stage managing to project co-ordinating, dancing to music making, film making to photography and creative writing to directing.
The Our Handful of Fragments Collective vision statements are:
To produce original work.
To develop and share skills and knowledge.
To support the arts and culture in communities beyond Brisbane.
To bring our work to communities beyond the Brisbane CBD.
To inspire young people who are considering a career in the arts.
To create, learn and celebrate.
2009 brings a group of young emerging artists together to form a collective with the aim of putting on a performance showcase utilising all skills on board. 2009 is also the first year this group of talented young people has come together. We do not see ourselves as an organisation or company and work only on the basis as a performance collective.
As a performance collective we are proudly supported by Youth Arts Organisations such as: Transit Lounge Caboolture, Youth Arts Queensland and Visible Ink (Fortitude Valley).
The Our Handful of Fragments Collective presents the Handful of Fragments Performance Showcase which will be touring both Brisbane and the Moreton Bay Region.
The Handful of Fragments Performance Showcase seeks to foster and celebrate the works of young and emerging artists. The showcase will encompass three diverse performances and a roving performance, all exploring the universal theme of love and is guaranteed to draw tears, laughter, reflection and joy.
The Handful of Fragments Performance Showcase will introduce Kimie Mizuno (director of the physical theatre piece, Ito~Thread), Daniel Maloney (playwright and director of comedic realism piece Failure to Care), and lastly, Samuel Green (director of musical theatre piece, Little Worlds of Love). All three directors are interested in questioning the notions surrounding love and produce originally diverse work. As a result, these directors see this showcase as an opportunity to test and develop their skills and knowledge as emerging theatre practitioners. The Handful of Fragments Performance Showcase gives these young emerging theatre practitioners and everyone involved in each performance with the opportunity to create, celebrate and learn.
